How exactly does a Padel Mexicano game work?
You register individually for the Mexicano tournament. The pairings and opponents are drawn in two stages:
Preliminary Round: Before the first match, the pairs are matched randomly to establish an initial classification.
Next Rounds: Before each subsequent match, the system selects Participants according to a ranking rule that ensures equal strength.
How does the system select partners and opponents?
Player from 1st place plays in pairs with a player from 4th placeand in the second pair they play 2. of 3 (similarly on the next court: 5th out of 8 vs 6th out of 7).
Rules of the game in the match
Each match is a competition up to a number determined by the Organizer exchanges (e.g., 21). There are no traditional games or sets. Matches on all courts end almost simultaneously, minimizing waiting times. This means you can play a dozen intense games in a typical two-hour period!
How is it served at Mexicano?
The service has the same rules as in a tie-break:
Beginning: The first player starts with one serve.
Rotation: Each subsequent player passes twice.
Website page change: Teams exchange serves every two points in the event of an odd score (e.g. 1:0, 2:1, 10:9).
How do you score points and who wins the game?
Your goal is to get as many as possible individual points in every match.
Counting points: It counts every point actually won! Even if you lose the match, it is worth fighting for every ball.
Final classification: After the tournament is over, the points are added up all the points you earned from all matches played. It is this total that determines the final classification and victory.
How do you earn points for the LigaPadla.pl ranking by playing Mexicano?
If Mexicano is played within LigaPadla.pl, is:
- all the results of your matches are saved in your profile
- After each completed tournament you get points for LigaPadla.pl rankings
The principle is simple: The number of points depends on the place and the level of the tournament.
For 1st place, you receive as many points as there were players. Each subsequent place is 1 less point – the last player receives 1 point. If multiple players finish in the same place, each receives the same number of points.
Placement points are then multiplied by the tournament level multiplier:

If a tournament has two levels (e.g. B2/B3), the lower multiplier applies.
Final ranking points = place × multiplier.
Example:
Mexicano B2/B3 involves 16 players. The winner earns 16 points. Then, we multiply these points by the B3 multiplier, which is 1.5 (because in combined categories, and in this case, B2/B3, the multiplier from the lower level is taken into account). Ultimately, the winner earns 16 points x 1.5 multiplier = 24 points towards the LigaPadla.pl rankings.

How long does the Mexicano tournament last?
Most clubs organize Mexicano lasting about 2 hours. During this time, you can play a significant number of rounds (around 10-12). Organizers must provide start and end times in the LigaPadla.pl system, so you know exactly how much time you’ll spend on the court.
What if an odd number of players sign up for Mexicano?
In Padel Mexicano, this isn’t a problem – each player simply pauses one round (you have a 10-minute rest). This doesn’t affect your chances of winning – the paused player receives half the maximum number of points possible in that round (e.g., in a match to 21 points, you’ll earn 11).
What level of player is Mexicano?
Mexicano is perfect for players on all levels, from beginners (C/B3) to advanced (A/B1). Its biggest advantage is that the system takes care of the pairing, thanks to which you always play with people at a similar level and you have a chance for a close match.
What are the disadvantages of Mexicano?
A drawback that some players may see is the fact that Mexicano does not guarantee absolute rotation. Since selection depends on your ranking, you can play with the same partner or against the same opponents multiple times. If you want to play with literally anyone, try Americano format.
